My wife and I have been married for over 25 wonderful years and we are still deeply in love. This painting was inspired by my wife’s pregnancy. It was a precious time for us as we awaited the birth of our first child. It was a unique time of waiting and anticipation. Something special was about to take place - something unique, authentic and encompassing us as a couple.
The description “hostile land” in the title is in reference to the Social Milieu of our current Western Society. We live in a value system that attacks and devalues the institution of marriage, one consequence of which is broken families and a fractured community.
Reflection >the joy of marriage - The intimacy and exclusivity of the married life - Expectation of the new birth - To love is to live! - Touch, Look upon – Union - The relational nature of our human condition.
